Anybody know any good lawyers?

No… I’m not in trouble… but I am looking for someone who would be willing to volunteer his or her legal knowledge and advice for the North Carolina Advocacy Coalition, the new PAC I’m heading up.

Lawyers are expensive and NCAC really doesn’t have the money to pay for one when we need to ask questions, get advice or look into something. Having a nice, community-involved and passionate lawyer to help us would be awesome.

I kind of doubt this little post is going to solve our lack-of-lawyer-ness, but it might just help.

If you are a lawyer or you have a friend who is a lawyer and you or him/her would be willing to help us out if we should ever have questions or need advice, please email me at matt@matthillnc.com.

If you can hold out until the academic year resumes, you might check with the Lambda Law organization at UNC Law (http://studentorgs.unc.edu/llsa/). (Their website looks to be a little out of date; if you need it, I can pull contact information from the UNC Law intranet.) I’m sure that there are similar groups at the law schools at Campbell, NCCU, and The School That Must Not Be Named.

Even if LAMBDA can’t help directly, they may be able to suggest NC attorneys willing to do some pro bono work.

I assume a PAC will eventually start rasing some money. Perhaps you can sweeten the deal by offering deffered payment.

Lance… I didn’t even think of that idea… WONDERFUL! lol.

Roch…. Great idea too. Deffered payment woul dbe nice. I jsut hope they realize it won’t be much money in the first few years. lol

    Hey Matt,
One of my favorite resources that I learned about through Equality NC is this excellent group called NC-GALA – North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Attorneys. It is a professional organization for LGBT attorneys in the state, but a good resources as well for LGBT people & organizations to use to find friendly attorneys.

Visit their website at http://www.ncgala.org – you can search for member attorneys in various sections of North Carolina and many of them have websites with more information as well.

    I hope this helps!

I actually know a few members of NCGALA. I was actually looking at their site this morning. Thanks.
