Kindley/NC Advocacy story gets more national coverage

Advocate & OutQ Logos copyright by Advocate & OutQThe situation between the NC Advocacy Coalition and Guilford GOP Chair Marcus Kindley has received more national media coverage.

The Advocate, the largest gay and lesbian newsmagazine in the nation, is running a short blurb about the story on their website. That particular story, as noted on the site, came from Sirius Radio’s OutQ News… which means the story has been run nationally on two more national gay media agencies, in addition to the story from 365gay.com News yesterday.

Here is the story (or see it at Advocate.com):

North Carolina GOP official refuses to retract comment linking homosexuality to pedophilia
June 14, 2006

The chair of Guilford County, North Carolina’s Republican Party is refusing to back down from comments he made linking homosexuality with pedophilia. In his official GOP blog, “The Chairman’s Corner,” Marcus Kindley decried the degrading of religion in American society: “We now say that homosexuality is OK. That it is natural. Yes it is as natural as pedophilia,” he wrote.

Kindley refused a demand to apologize from the Carolina Advocacy Coalition and told a radio interviewer Thursday that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice like choosing to be overweight. His views are not that different from the GOP’s platform, which states: “We believe homosexual behavior is not normal and should not be taught as an acceptable ‘alternative’ lifestyle either in public education or in public policy.” (Sirius OutQ News)

Also… at the bottom of the news story page on Advocate.com, this little blurb appears (I’m wondering if this is just a staple of the site, because I couldn’t find any mention of this story in a search of AP articles):

If someone could find me confirmation of the existence of any Associated Press article, I’d greatly appreciate it.
